I *believe+ the M400 Which was Motorola branded only came with the A7 Advanced 99 ch control head. The labels on the switches of course would be wrong, but I have used an 16 ch head (Zone A/B) for 8 ch and talk around. I am pretty sure the 1090 is just the Maratrac labled versus the M400 labeled. (BTW clamshell heads from Mitreks and such won't work) I had about a dozen LB models that had the wrong parts. So now I have several of the heads with the POT and no radios that use it. I was wanting to change some of the low band radios I have that DON'T have the POT to the heads that DO have the POT. The interconnect board is different, and so is the squelch audio board. There are several different components in the radio chassis to "enable" the control head squelch POT.
